Living the Farm Life! Out on the Farm with Lambs!

Each week so far my blog posts have been about my Tiny House, today I’m off topic because I want to share with you a little bit about one of the other aspects of my blog…farming!  Why? Because this past week has been lambing time on the farm! So it’s a great time to talk lambs and sheep and all other things wooly!  I’ll introduce you to my daughter Emily. Emily lives in the Tiny House with me and has been very much a part of the Tiny House and farm design process from the beginning! Emily is 20 years old and only remembers ever living in a rural environment,…

    Insulation in a Tiny House

One of the questions I have been asked a lot since starting my blog is if my Tiny House is insulated? Yes! My Tiny House is most definitely insulated!  Some of the photos of my Tiny House that you have been looking at may have given the idea that I had not used insulation but this is not the case…the photo of the wall behind the TV & Fireplace area was left unclad as a feature wall with the exposed shipping container industrial look! Bear in mind this design and decision to have the feature wall was carefully thought out as that part of the building is on the south…

    About the Design

Designing my Tiny House was such a fantastic experience for me! Taking something from a basic, plain box and being able to turn it into an a space I love to live in is something I’m very proud to have achieved!  Putting your design together is a process that requires some planning. We talked in one of my earlier posts about choosing your design theme, I chose to go for an industrial design with some added rustic recycled timbers. Given I was working on a shipping container conversion the industrial theme seemed well suited! I also mentioned including a few of your must have items in your Tiny House, for…

Time to Build! The Beginning of Your Tiny House Journey!

Last blog we talked about planning and council approvals for your Tiny House build!  The next step is about bringing your build to life! A bespoke build like a shipping container conversion, a log cabin or a Tiny House on wheels can be challenging to make come together, particularly if like me, you are starting out with very little building knowledge! The next steps of this project were probably the hardest and most trying for me! I’ve created this blog is so I can share my real experiences, the good and bad with the hopes I can give some guidance to anyone who’s looking to do something similar! There are…

What’s Next? The Beginning of Your Tiny House Journey!

Last blog we talked about choosing the type and design of your Tiny House, building in the things you love and deciding which utilities you’d use!  The next steps are less fun than choosing your colour schemes and cooktops but they have to be done and they’re probably less daunting than most people think!  If you do find yourself a little overwhelmed at first don’t worry you’re not the only one, I’ve been there! Follow the process, ask as many questions as you need to and you’ll get it done! Council I’m sure that the rules will vary depending on the type of Tiny House you choose and also where…

    Tiny House & Sustainable Living

I’ll take you through my journey, week by week, with information on how I built my tiny house. I’ll talk about what worked, what I’d have done differently and also about the mistakes I made. You’ll be able to follow my written articles, photos, videos, recommendations, costs, ideas, and get help with your design work, connected with tradies in the know and source the right products for you and your tiny house!  I’ll also talk a lot about self sustainable living!
